If you ask anyone who knew me growing up, they'd tell you about the stories I used to create. The notebooks full of tall tales, the hours I spent on an old computer crafting my next novella. Time passed, there were all of the normal growing-up things like dates and college classes, a shabby first apartment and somewhat less-shabby second and third apartments - trips to new places, seen through an inquiring mind. The creative in me itched to capture what I saw rather than what I wanted to see, to tell the story better than I could with words.
A camera was scrimped and saved for, and it clicked. It's hard to say how a shy little girl who fancied herself a writer began to love being in the center of everything and started capturing stories instead of making them up, but it felt like a pretty natural transition. I love the getting-to-know-you, first date butterflies of befriending new clients, of meeting over cocktails or coffee and talking about life. I think that when it feels like the person photographing your wedding could be there anyway, my job becomes seamless.
