Naomi + Trevor | Lake Michigan Wedding

vintage michigan wedding photographer

Joy. All day long, a sense of complete and utter joy followed Naomi & Trevor around. It came from them – their love for each other, for their families – but it also came from the people around them. The second that we walked into the reception space after driving over from the hotel where Naomi and the bridesmaids got ready, Trevor’s mom came over, introduced herself, and said “can you believe this beautiful, wonderful woman is about to become my daughter-in-law? How lucky am I?” Family was present in every bit of this wedding, from the beautiful arch that Naomi’s parents built for the ceremony, to the song that her grandpa serenaded the couple with after the rest of the guests had gone up to enjoy cocktail hour. And at the heart of it all was the reason for all of the love and joy – Naomi and Trevor, who look at each other with such love, and grab each others’ hands so tightly as if to never let go. Thank you, Naomi, Trevor, and your big, beautiful family for letting me celebrate with you.

Editorial Photography | All About Floral

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Dennise (the creative behind the stylish and artistic blog Tenacious Dee) since this past winter. She’s one of the kindest souls I’ve met, and artistically we are a perfect match (which means we squeal over all the same things). Since getting to know Dennise, we’ve collaborated on many projects, but she’s become a friend as well, even celebrating with Ross and me on our wedding day. There was something very special about this floral shoot. I’m not sure if it was because we have such fun together, or because we were inspired by and lucky enough to use the gorgeous home of Linsey from INDO and fabulous florals by Foxglove Studio, but I could live in this beautiful, summer-y world that we created for the afternoon.sunny chicago photographyinterior editorial chicago photographerukrainian village chicago gardenchicago gardenchicago barn photographyrustic floral bookvintage chicago floral photographypost 27 chicago decorkinfolk magazine chicagovintage chicago wedding photographervintage bride floral crownvintage chicago flowersflower crown chicagoboudoir photography chicagosummer garden in chicagopost 27 chicago artworkchicago photojournalistic wedding photographersunlight in ukrainian villageflower market shopping listflowersvintage chicago photography

Personal | Honeymoon | LA & the Ace Hotel, Palm Springs

Ace Hotel Palm Springs wedding photographer

About a week ago, on a beautiful Saturday evening in the city, I married my best friend and the love of my life. We’ve been together for almost eight years, so I was sure the whole day would feel more like a fun party for everything, but I have to say that our wedding went far beyond that. We wrote the whole ceremony and our vows, and got married in the garden in the back of Salvage One here in Chicago. We took off for LA bright and early the next morning, and spent the most wonderful, relaxing five days I’ve ever experienced wandering around Echo Park, downtown LA (where we got amazingly tasty and free honeymoon coffee from Handsome Coffee Roasters), Venice Beach and then packing up our rental car and making the scenic drive into Palm Springs to stay at the Ace Hotel and Swim Club. Even though we enjoyed LA, Palm Springs was a little slice of heaven and I’m pretty sure that I could be happy splitting all my time between the hikes and bike rides in the desert, the margaritas by the pool, nights up on the stargazing deck, lazy games of ping-pong, and relaxing by the private fire pit on the patio outside of our room.  I’m still dreaming of Palm Springs (and the Ace!) and already dying to plan a return trip.
